Yagura is the visiting ninja that Might Guy was going to train during the the fillers. Before he was able to get to Konoha, he was attacked and captured by the three Ryudoin brothers. The oldest brother, Genshou Ryudoin, took Yagura's appearance and tried get revenge on Might Guy. Yagura was later found by fire ninja.

Idate Morino (Morino Idate) is the younger brother of Ibiki Morino who appears only in the anime. Despite no longer considering himself a ninja, Idate has shown to still be proficient in basic ninja abilities. He has trained to improve his running speed.
edit BackgroundIdate took and failed the Chunin Exams, making him ineligible to take the exams again. When he protested, Ibiki suggested that he was not cut out for being a ninja. Idate's instructor, Aoi Rokusho, told Idate he could become a Chunin by stealing a secret jutsu scroll and the Sword of the Thunder God. It quickly became clear that Aoi merely used Idate to get his hands on these two objects and become a Jonin in Amegakure. Therefore, Idate was classified as a fugitive by his home village and had to go on the run in order to save his life.
It was not long before Ibiki uncovered Aoi's plan and chased after his little brother. However, Aoi quickly brought in Amegakure allies to capture Ibiki and eliminate the two ANBU members with him. Aoi then tortured Ibiki to read the scroll, in the process accidentally setting the building on fire after Ibiki managed to free both himself and his little brother. However, despite Ibiki's fierce efforts, the flames soon separated the two siblings and Idate was forced to flee the fire that would (supposedly) kill the two older nin, though they both escaped separately. At some point after that, Idate tried to steal money from Jirocho Wasabi and failed, though he took pity on him, and let Idate join the Wasabi clan.
edit Part I [edit] Land of Tea Soon after Tsunade becomes Hokage, Idate is hired to be the Wasabi Clan's runner for the Todoroki shrine Race in the Land of Tea with Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno employed as his bodyguards. Aoi and Team Oboro turned out to be the bodyguard of the opposing Wagarashi clan's runner, Fukusuke Hikyakuya. Their leader Kirouku Wagarashi hired them to take care of Idate for him. And although Team 7 is constantly angered by Idate, they still protect him at any cost, especially after hearing his tragic story and realizing that Ibiki is his older brother. After enduring difficult battles with Team Oboro and Aoi, Team 7 helped him win. When Ibiki comes to pick up an injured Sasuke, Idate bows to him, while Ibiki says he doesn't have the eyes of a coward anymore.

Yakumo Kurama (Kurama Yakumo) is the last surviving member of the main branch of the Kurama clan, and as such, the heiress to the clan. She inherited the clan's Kekkei Genkai in its entirety, giving her the ability to cast illusions that are so powerful that they can actually produce real effects. She often uses paintings as a conduit to cast these illusions, causing reality to reflect what is on the painting.
edit BackgroundBorn with a weak body, she was unable to perform the physical activities required of a ninja. Worried about this development, her father petitioned the Third Hokage to grant Yakumo a special tutor to allow her to become a proper ninja. This tutor was Kurenai Yuhi, who was a genjutsu user like Yakumo. Inspired by the example of Rock Lee, who was unable to use ninjutsu or genjutsu, and his relationship with his sensei Might Guy, Yakumo believed she could become a ninja through solely concentrating upon her genjutsu skills. However, Kurenai lacked Guy's optimism, and felt she was unable to train Yakumo in this regard. She eventually refused to train Yakumo, instructing her to seek another path in life. Yakumo refused, though, and Kurenai later sealed her powers. This was done on the order of the Third Hokage, as he had been made aware of the Id monster, a sentient, malicious personality within Yakumo that could control her and use her incredible powers to destructive means - with the destruction of Konohagakure foremost in his mind. However, the Idou monster overcame the seal, and cast an illusion of a fire engulfing the Kurama clan's household, which killed Yakumo's parents. Yakumo, however, believed that the fire was started on the order of the Third Hokage, having overheard a conversation that she believed indicated that the Third Hokage was planning to kill her if she became too much of a threat.
Seeking revenge on Konohagakure, and specifically Kurenai, Yakumo escaped from her mountain side manor that was under constant surveillance from ANBUs and medics. She came to Konohagakure and painted a picture of lightning hitting the Hokage's mansion. As the lighting struck and the mansion started to burn she packed up her supplies and left though she didn't get very far before a squad of medical ninjas and ANBU intercepted her, knocking her out with a sleep inducing drug. Naruto who was following her since seeing her paint the painting was warned to stay out of there way before their way as they teleported back to the manor. A few days later group of her clan members led by her uncle Unkai Kurama attacked the manor attempting to kidnap her and end the threat she served to the village. After trapping the assailants in genjutsu.

He was very much like Naruto Uzumaki in both appearance and personality and like Naruto, Nawaki also had the dream of becoming Hokage one day. He shared this dream with his sister on his twelfth birthday, who gave him their grandfather's necklace in the hopes that it would help him achieve is dream. The day after his birthday, Nawaki died in battle. His body was so heavily mutilated that it was beyond recognition.
Orochimaru would later offer Tsunade to bring Nawaki back to life, together with Tsunade's lover Dan, in exchange for healing his arms. The resurrection would require a human sacrifice, though. She ultimately refuses, realizing that Nawaki and Dan would not want her to sacrifice the lives of others in exchange for theirs.

Matsuri (マツリ) is an Academy Student in Konohagakure.
edit Part IIruka Umino takes Matsuri and her class to an outdoor lecture beneath the Hokage Monument to discuss the Hokage. The Third Hokage visits them there and encourages the children to protect those they care about. Matsuri asks if there is anyone that he cares about enough to protect, to which he replies that he would fight for "everyone in the village." He probes Yūdachi's mind, rapidly going through his memories before arriving at the revelation that Pain had requested of Yūdachi: dead bodies. Before he can think on this Ino arrives to inform him of Pain's attack on Konoha and the village is soon afterwards destroyed. Shizune is killed in the chaos and, using the information Shizune had learned before her death, Inoichi realizes that Pain is animating dead bodies in a manner similar to his own clan's mental manipulation techniques, thereby meaning the true Pain is in a remote location somewhere relatively close.
While looking for Pain's real body, along with Shikaku and Kō Hyuga, they bump into Naruto. Inoichi asks if Naruto has defeated Pain, to which Naruto answers that it doesn't matter and states that he's found Pain's true body while in sage mode. He ask's them not to follow him as he wants to talk to Pain Inoichi states angrily that talking doesn't solve anything, after a brief argument, Shikaku tells Inoichi to just let Naruto go, to which Inochi hesitantly agrees.

During the invasion in Part I, Inoichi skilfully performed the Mind Body Disturbance Technique to make the invaders he encounter fight themselves without any control. Further proof of his skill is shown from his status as an interrogator during Pain's invasion of Konoha. He was able to skilfully probe a Yūdachi's mind even though Pain had guarded it with mental blocks and traps. He has also shown the ability to communicate telepathically with his daughter Ino.
He is also skilled at tracking targets through their chakra trail, so long as the target's chakra signature stays the same.

Like the rest of his clan, he had a large appetite, and was prone to eat everything on an entire page on the menu.

edit BackgroundLike his son, he was part of an Ino-Shika-Cho trio, together with Choza Akimichi and Inoichi Yamanaka. Like his son, he is the Shika in the group name.
He is married to Yoshino Nara who, as his son says, has him whipped. Despite his claim that "a woman is always tender to the man she loves," his son is never convinced.
As a member of the Nara clan, he raises deer, whose antlers can be used to make a medicine which halts the destructive effects of the Akimichi clan's three colored pills.
Since his son became a Chunin, Shikaku has taken a great interest in Shikamaru's training as he knows his son has much greater potential than he gives himself credit, regularly playing him at shogi to further refine his son's intellect and teaching him more of their clan's secret techniques.
He is probably the most skilled strategist and shogi player in all of Konoha, he beats Shikamaru on a regular basis.
edit PersonalityWhen he is first seen, he is portrayed as a bit of an alcoholic, and at times uses some of Shikamaru's catchphrases ("What a drag" in English, "How troublesome" in Japanese). Like his son, he thinks that women should be tender and sweet, but as his son says, his wife has him whipped. Also like his son, he is a very lazy person, but he is also quite caring, and is ready to jump into action when needed. Unlike his son, his resolve is much stronger, as even during the most depressing or dangerous of situations, he has shown to maintain great determination and understanding as shown from how he has repeatedly helped his son regain his sense of worth. He also seems to be very smart as he has defeated Shikamaru in shogi.
edit Part I[edit] Chunin Exam arcShikaku is first seen during the Chunin Exam festivals, sitting alongside Choza Akimichi and Inoichi Yamanaka, talking to Inoichi about how troublesome it must be to have a daughter. A little while later he is seen talking to Shikamaru about the festivals and saying that he should enjoy them, even though all Shikamaru wants to do is drag his father home before he (his father) gets too drunk.
[edit] Invasion of Konoha arcHe makes his next appearance during the end of the Konoha Invasion arc choking Sajin and two other Sand Shinobi with the Shadow Neck Bind Technique and then again next to Choza and Inoichi saying that it is the reunification of the Ino-Shika-Cho trio.
[edit] Sasuke Retrieval arcWhen Shikamaru returns unsuccessful, Shikaku is there to help Tsunade cure the effects of the destructive Three Colored Pills taken by Choji and later encourage his son to keep his responsibility as team captain as it might be that a team on a mission could have several casualties, but if he was there that team might end up with no casualties.
edit Part II[edit] Hidan and Kakuzu arcIn Part II, Shikaku appears for the first time when Asuma Sarutobi's funeral has taken place and he finds his son, Shikamaru sitting outside the house staring at the moon. He asks him to come in to play Shogi. He then tells Shikamaru, who's angry at his father for complimenting him while he feels like he was the one to blame for Asuma's death, to let all of his anger, fear and sadness out. After that he returns to the same room and finds the shogi pieces placed in a strategy Shikamaru came up with. The King piece is still protected.
Later on in the end of the Hidan and Kakuzu arc, after Shikamaru had defeated Hidan, he is seen playing Shogi with his son and proves to be much better than Asuma Sarutobi when playing Shogi, as he could easily beat his son at the game while Asuma never could, displaying genius beyond that of even Shikamaru's.
[edit] Invasion of Pain arcIn Pain's invasion on Konoha, Shikaku is seen with his son speaking to Shiho. When he was speaking to his son, he seems to have some knowledge of Senjutsu, stating that they should not interfere with Naruto's fight with Pain.
Later, Inoichi comes to them explaing to him about a "Main Body", after chastising Inoichi for not being able to find it, Inoichi tells them he knows how to. Along the way towards the true Pain, Inoichi and the others bump into Naruto, who requests that they not follow him or interfere. While initially saying nothing, Shikaku tells Inoichi to let Naruto have his way. While not saying it, Shikaku remembers what his son said about Naruto and decides to trust him. Afterwards, he realizes he made the right choice to trust Naruto when he learns that everyone in Konoha who died is revived.
After the invasion, he gathers the seniors of Konoha together and votes for Kakashi to become the next Hokage.
edit AbilitiesLike his son, and the rest of his clan, Shikaku uses a special secret clan type of Jutsu, that utilizes the manipulation of shadows in various combat able ways. Although he has only been seen in combat once, as the head of his respective clan, it is highly presumed that he has mastery of his clan's techniques. During Orochimaru's invasion of Konoha, Shikaku perfectly used the Shadow Neck Bind Technique against three opponents at the same time.
He has also shown on several occasions to be a very intelligent man, repeatedly giving insightful words of advice to Shikamaru, as well as repeatedly beating him in shogi, strongly hinting at having an intellect that surpasses his son's.

Shikaku Nara (奈良シカク, Nara Shikaku) is the father of Shikamaru Nara and the husband of Yoshino Nara. He is rarely seen in either manga or anime, but when he is seen, he greatly resembles his son with the exception of his more matured appearance and the few scars on his face.

edit BackgroundLike his son, he was part of an Ino-Shika-Cho trio, together with Choza Akimichi and Inoichi Yamanaka. Like his son, he is the Shika in the group name.
He is married to Yoshino Nara who, as his son says, has him whipped. Despite his claim that "a woman is always tender to the man she loves," his son is never convinced.
As a member of the Nara clan, he raises deer, whose antlers can be used to make a medicine which halts the destructive effects of the Akimichi clan's three colored pills.
Since his son became a Chunin, Shikaku has taken a great interest in Shikamaru's training as he knows his son has much greater potential than he gives himself credit, regularly playing him at shogi to further refine his son's intellect and teaching him more of their clan's secret techniques.
He is probably the most skilled strategist and shogi player in all of Konoha, he beats Shikamaru on a regular basis.
edit PersonalityWhen he is first seen, he is portrayed as a bit of an alcoholic, and at times uses some of Shikamaru's catchphrases ("What a drag" in English, "How troublesome" in Japanese). Like his son, he thinks that women should be tender and sweet, but as his son says, his wife has him whipped. Also like his son, he is a very lazy person, but he is also quite caring, and is ready to jump into action when needed. Unlike his son, his resolve is much stronger, as even during the most depressing or dangerous of situations, he has shown to maintain great determination and understanding as shown from how he has repeatedly helped his son regain his sense of worth. He also seems to be very smart as he has defeated Shikamaru in shogi.
edit Part I[edit] Chunin Exam arcShikaku is first seen during the Chunin Exam festivals, sitting alongside Choza Akimichi and Inoichi Yamanaka, talking to Inoichi about how troublesome it must be to have a daughter. A little while later he is seen talking to Shikamaru about the festivals and saying that he should enjoy them, even though all Shikamaru wants to do is drag his father home before he (his father) gets too drunk.
[edit] Invasion of Konoha arcHe makes his next appearance during the end of the Konoha Invasion arc choking Sajin and two other Sand Shinobi with the Shadow Neck Bind Technique and then again next to Choza and Inoichi saying that it is the reunification of the Ino-Shika-Cho trio.
[edit] Sasuke Retrieval arcWhen Shikamaru returns unsuccessful, Shikaku is there to help Tsunade cure the effects of the destructive Three Colored Pills taken by Choji and later encourage his son to keep his responsibility as team captain as it might be that a team on a mission could have several casualties, but if he was there that team might end up with no casualties.
edit Part II[edit] Hidan and Kakuzu arcIn Part II, Shikaku appears for the first time when Asuma Sarutobi's funeral has taken place and he finds his son, Shikamaru sitting outside the house staring at the moon. He asks him to come in to play Shogi. He then tells Shikamaru, who's angry at his father for complimenting him while he feels like he was the one to blame for Asuma's death, to let all of his anger, fear and sadness out. After that he returns to the same room and finds the shogi pieces placed in a strategy Shikamaru came up with. The King piece is still protected.
Later on in the end of the Hidan and Kakuzu arc, after Shikamaru had defeated Hidan, he is seen playing Shogi with his son and proves to be much better than Asuma Sarutobi when playing Shogi, as he could easily beat his son at the game while Asuma never could, displaying genius beyond that of even Shikamaru's.
[edit] Invasion of Pain arcIn Pain's invasion on Konoha, Shikaku is seen with his son speaking to Shiho. When he was speaking to his son, he seems to have some knowledge of Senjutsu, stating that they should not interfere with Naruto's fight with Pain.
Later, Inoichi comes to them explaing to him about a "Main Body", after chastising Inoichi for not being able to find it, Inoichi tells them he knows how to. Along the way towards the true Pain, Inoichi and the others bump into Naruto, who requests that they not follow him or interfere. While initially saying nothing, Shikaku tells Inoichi to let Naruto have his way. While not saying it, Shikaku remembers what his son said about Naruto and decides to trust him. Afterwards, he realizes he made the right choice to trust Naruto when he learns that everyone in Konoha who died is revived.
After the invasion, he gathers the seniors of Konoha together and votes for Kakashi to become the next Hokage.
edit AbilitiesLike his son, and the rest of his clan, Shikaku uses a special secret clan type of Jutsu, that utilizes the manipulation of shadows in various combat able ways. Although he has only been seen in combat once, as the head of his respective clan, it is highly presumed that he has mastery of his clan's techniques. During Orochimaru's invasion of Konoha, Shikaku perfectly used the Shadow Neck Bind Technique against three opponents at the same time.
He has also shown on several occasions to be a very intelligent man, repeatedly giving insightful words of advice to Shikamaru, as well as repeatedly beating him in shogi, strongly hinting at having an intellect that surpasses his son's.

Team MinatoDuring the Third Great Shinobi War, Team Minato is assigned to destroy the Kannabi Bridge. Rin is kidnapped during the course of the mission and her captors, Iwagakure ninja, use genjutsu on her to see if she knows anything about Konoha's war efforts. Kakashi and Obito stage a rescue effort, and though they succeed Obito is crushed in a cave-in. Before he dies he asks Rin to implant his Sharingan eye into Kakashi's damaged eye socket. After the procedure is completed Rin and Kakashi are forced to flee the continuing cave-in, and with the help of Minato go on to complete their mission.
Rin's fate after this is unknown. She is assumed to have died, as Kakashi indicates that he was unable to protect her.
edit PersonalityRin was a sweet and friendly girl who cared for her teammates and leaders. She shares many similarities to Sakura Haruno, such as the medical skills and similar hairstyle. She also had the same position in the love triangle of her team; Obito had a crush on her, but she had a crush on Kakashi. Still, she was much more passive about it than Sakura; while Sakura repeatedly insulted Naruto, calling him stupid and such and almost always siding with Sasuke, Rin actually never called Obito any names or shouted at him, and when trying to break up arguments, she did not take sides. Her crush on Kakashi was not anywhere near as obvious as Sakura's crush on Sasuke, either; up until the time that Rin openly admits her feelings for Kakashi, the caring attitude she showed towards him could have been easily mistaken for teammate-like caring and concern.

Team MinatoObito graduated from the Ninja Academy at the age of 9, and got promoted to Chunin at the age of 11. During the Third Great Shinobi War, Team Minato is assigned to destroy the Kannabi Bridge. Because Kakashi has recently been promoted to Jonin, he is to be left in charge of the mission. Before setting out, however, Minato Namikaze and Rin give Kakashi gifts, something Obito forgot to do. Minato leaves them to go fight on the front lines, and Rin is soon captured by Iwagakure forces. Kakashi chose not to go save her, placing the mission's completion first, but Obito refuses to comply, stating that while those who break the rules are trash, those who abandon their friends are worse than trash. They part ways.
When Obito finds where Rin is being held, he is immediately attacked by Taiseki. Kakashi, having had a change of heart, arrives in time to save Obito and Taiseki uses the Hiding Camouflage Technique to disappear. Invisible, Taiseki is able to damage Kakashi's left eye. To save his teammate Obito awakens his Sharingan, immediately proving proficient enough with it to locate and kill Taiseki. Obito and Kakashi go to save Rin, but once she is freed an enemy-induced cave-in starts. Obito pushes Kakashi out of the way of a falling rock and his right side is crushed. Unable to free himself, Obito asks Rin to give Kakashi his remaining Sharingan eye to make up for not giving him a gift earlier. Once the eye transfer procedure is complete Rin and Kakashi are forced to leave, the cave continuing to collapse around them. Obito dies thinking of them both.

This loose treatment of rules caused him to have a rough relationship with Kakashi. While Kakashi believed that the rules were everything during his time with Obito, whereas Obito believed that self-control and caring for one's friends was more important. Despite his carefree appearance, Obito often suffered from self-doubt, as while he boasted that he would surpass Kakashi once his Sharingan awakened, he later stated that he saw himself as a "washout" among the Uchiha. Obito had romantic feelings for Rin, but never was able to confess them to her. Many of these personality traits are adopted by Kakashi after Obito's death.
Obito is similar to Naruto Uzumaki; both were at first goof balls desperate to get attention, they look similar, and try to best their rival teammates (Kakashi and Sasuke Uchiha, respectively). Both of them also had a crush on their female teammate (Rin and Sakura Haruno), who each preferred the other teammate (Kakashi and Sasuke) instead.

They also have similar personalities, hair styles, as well as the same blood type, "O". The spelling of Obito was also similar to Tobi, creating the fan reference of ObiTobi, or Tobito. Even though Tobi has been referred to as Madara several times in the series, some fans still insist that Obito is somehow connected to Tobi or Madara.

Team Jiraiya. Both of Minato's teammates' names are unknown.According to those who knew him, Minato was a very talented ninja, having been considered a genius that appeared once a generation. He graduated from the Ninja Academy at the age of ten and was added to a Genin team under the tutelage of Jiraiya. Jiraiya took a special interest in Minato and accepted him as an apprentice.
In later years, Minato was put in charge of a Genin team of his own, consisting of Kakashi Hatake, Rin and Obito Uchiha.

Minato with his students: Rin, Obito Uchiha, and Kakashi Hatake.During Kakashi Gaiden, set during the Third Great Shinobi War, Minato led his team on a mission into Kusagakure famously known as "Konoha's Yellow Flash." Because Kakashi had recently become a Jonin, Minato gave leadership of the mission to Kakashi while he went to help Konoha's forces on the front lines. Before leaving he gave Kakashi a special kunai as a congratulatory present, outfitted with the seal used for his Flying Thunder God Technique.
While helping his fellow Konoha ninja he used the Flying Thunder God Technique to wipe out all of the opposing Iwagakure ninja in an instant. He returned to Kakashi in time to save him from another group of Iwagakure ninja, but could not save Obito. When Kakashi and Rin recovered from the ordeal, Minato helped them complete the task of destroying the Kannabi Bridge.

Minato as the Fourth Hokage.Some time after the war ended, Minato was chosen by Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, to lead as the Fourth Hokage. During his reign, he had a relationship with Kushina Uzumaki who would become pregnant with his son. After reading Jiraiya's book, where the main character was named Naruto, Minato and Kushina decided to name their son "Naruto" in the hopes that he would grow up to be just like the Naruto of the book (Jiraiya's). This, in turn, made Jiraiya Naruto's godfather.
Soon after Naruto was born, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked Konoha. Minato rushed to the village's help, where he and Gamabunta faced off against the demon fox, but the beast's power could not be matched. Recognizing that the demon fox was being controlled by Madara Uchiha, Minato decided to defeat it and give Konoha the means to combat Madara if he should ever attack the village again. He used the Dead Demon Consuming Seal to seal the demon fox into Naruto's body, hoping that Naruto would someday be able to make use of its power. The act cost Minato his life, and he died as the village's greatest hero.

During the sealing process, Minato split the demon fox's chakra in two, giving Naruto access to the Yang chakra and permanently cutting off access to the Yin. He left Jiraiya a key to the seal that kept the demon fox sealed within Naruto to be used to strengthen it whenever it began to weaken. As a final safety measure, he left an imprint of himself within Naruto's subconscious that would react whenever the seal was on the verge of breaking. This imprint could watch Naruto grow up and had the one-time ability of returning the seal to its original strength.
edit PersonalityJiraiya and Tsunade point out that, while Naruto physically bears great resemblance to Minato, his personality and style of Ninjutsu are almost identical to his mother. While Naruto is boisterous and relatively thick, Minato was calm, collected, and a natural genius. When faced with an enemy, he could kill in cold blood, and seemed well aware of the terror his reputation inspired in his foes. He appeared to be respectful of those around him, as he was reproachful of freely speaking of others' pasts, and was said to have been a very nice person.

When Naruto starts to give into the temptations of power from the demon fox and is about to release the beast, the imprint Minato left behind stops him. Although he voices his dislike of seeing the demon fox again, he points out that its actions have allowed him to see his son. Naruto picks up on this and is overjoyed to finally find out who his father is. Minato tries to talk with Naruto, but the fox keeps interrupting the conversation so they go someplace that is quiet. After the shock of finding his father, Naruto is quickly outraged at the idea that Minato would seal the demon fox in his own son, and gut-punches him. Minato apologizes and Naruto quickly gets over his rage at the thought of being the Fourth's son.
Because he has a limited amount of time to talk to Naruto, Minato briefly catches up with him, at the same time indicating that he knows Pain killed Jiraiya. He expresses his suspicions that Pain, like the demon fox years earlier, is being controlled by Madara Uchiha. He goes on to suggest that so long as the current ninja system exists, people like Pain who are ruined by war and only go on to create new wars will continue to exist. He restores the seal on Naruto's stomach and encourages Naruto to find a way to stop the vicious cycle of death and destruction, voicing his confidence in Naruto before disappearing.

He created the Rasengan, a technique that does not rely on hand signs, but instead uses a concentration of spinning chakra in the palm that causes immense damage to its target on contact. Minato had planned to add his own nature manipulation training to the Rasengan, making it even more powerful, but couldn't manage to combine the two prior to his premature death. He had a keen knowledge of fūinjutsu and was one of the few people capable of getting Gamabunta to work with him.
It is unknown exactly how strong Minato was in combat. Flee-on-sight orders were given to enemy shinobi during the Third Great Shinobi War in case he ever appeared on the battlefield. Team Jiraiya. Both of Minato's teammates' names are unknown.According to those who knew him, Minato was a very talented ninja, having been considered a genius that appeared once a generation. He graduated from the Ninja Academy at the age of ten and was added to a Genin team under the tutelage of Jiraiya. Jiraiya took a special interest in Minato and accepted him as an apprentice.
In later years, Minato was put in charge of a Genin team of his own, consisting of Kakashi Hatake, Rin and Obito Uchiha.

Minato with his students: Rin, Obito Uchiha, and Kakashi Hatake.During Kakashi Gaiden, set during the Third Great Shinobi War, Minato led his team on a mission into Kusagakure famously known as "Konoha's Yellow Flash." Because Kakashi had recently become a Jonin, Minato gave leadership of the mission to Kakashi while he went to help Konoha's forces on the front lines. Before leaving he gave Kakashi a special kunai as a congratulatory present, outfitted with the seal used for his Flying Thunder God Technique.
While helping his fellow Konoha ninja he used the Flying Thunder God Technique to wipe out all of the opposing Iwagakure ninja in an instant. He returned to Kakashi in time to save him from another group of Iwagakure ninja, but could not save Obito. When Kakashi and Rin recovered from the ordeal, Minato helped them complete the task of destroying the Kannabi Bridge.

During his reign, he had a relationship with Kushina Uzumaki who would become pregnant with his son. After reading Jiraiya's book, where the main character was named Naruto, Minato and Kushina decided to name their son "Naruto" in the hopes that he would grow up to be just like the Naruto of the book (Jiraiya's). This, in turn, made Jiraiya Naruto's godfather.

edit PersonalityKonohamaru usually hangs out with his two friends, Udon and Moegi. Together, they call themselves the "Konohamaru Ninja Squad". He and his teammates constantly try to sneak up on Naruto Uzumaki with poor variations of the Cloak of Invisibility Technique. Konohamaru's biggest influence is Naruto himself, looking up to him as a role model. At various points Naruto and Konohamaru appear to have common bonds between them, such as use of the perverted jutsu, determination, and a fiery attitude. Konohamaru ends many of his sentences with "kore" (コレ, a laughing signal or appreciation), much like Naruto's "Dattebayo!"
Even though Konohamaru and Naruto pretend to be rivals, the two clearly have a deep and understanding relationship, that goes far beyond the boundaries of a mentor/protégé relationship, more like one between a younger and elder brother. Konohamaru idolizes Naruto in ways that no other person does, which is also shown when the two meet first, with Konohamaru calling Naruto respectfully. They eventually become very close, and Naruto also teaches Konohamaru some jutsu that he himself excels in.
Like Naruto, Konohamaru dreams to become an Hokage, however, he claims that he will be the Seventh Hokage, as he is perfectly convinced that Naruto will become the Sixth Hokage.

Konohamaru's perfect Sexy Technique in Episode 2.At the start of the series, Konohamaru feels unacknowledged due to his status as the Third Hokage's grandson, and is always recognized as the "Honorable Grandson". Although he had only recently begun to attend the Academy, he constantly attempted surprise attacks on his grandfather so he could defeat him and acquire the acknowledgment of the Hokage name. Though Ebisu, his tutor, tried to discourage this, it is only through Naruto's influence that Konohamaru realized that there would be no shortcuts to becoming Hokage. Instead, it is a dream that would take many years of hard work and discipline to realize.
Konohamaru makes a few other staggered appearances as Part I progresses, either trying to spend time with Naruto or simply trying to be helpful. After his grandfather's death, Konohamaru briefly loses interest in Naruto's guidance, feeling the restoration of the village to be more important. When Tsunade attempts to take on the position of Hokage, Konohamaru is unaccepting of her due to his opinion that she can't compare to his grandfather. After Tsunade demonstrates her strength and medical abilities for him, however, Konohamaru accepts her as the Third's successor.

He debuts after Naruto's return to the village as a member of Team Ebisu, in the anime having just returned from a mission to find a cat (as Naruto had done in the past). Most of his later appearances are to either show Naruto his perverted jutsu or to marvel at Naruto's abilities.

After observing its abilities he tries to go and inform others of what it can do, but accidentally alerts the Path to his location. Ebisu intervenes to give Konohamaru a chance to escape, but Konohamaru insists on fighting to protect Ebisu, Naruto, and the village. He successfully uses the Rasengan that Naruto taught on the Naraka path, but the Path retreats before their battle can progress further.
edit AbilitiesAt the beginning of the series, Konohamaru's only skills included some poor cloaking techniques and much worse transformation skills. However, after having met Naruto, he has at least perfected his transformation technique. Naruto teaches him how to use the Sexy Technique, which he combines in Part II with the Shadow Clone Technique.
[edit] RasenganSometime during Part I, Naruto taught Konohamaru how to use the Rasengan. When being walked through the steps he assumed it was another perverted jutsu. He apparently does not use it until his battle with Pain, as Ebisu is surprised to see he can use it. His version of the Rasengan is, like Naruto's, performed using a Shadow Clone to control the power of the chakra, but is smaller than Naruto's. It is also shown that Konohamaru holds the Rasengan with a shadow clone the way Naruto uses one to hold his Great Ball Rasengan.

While rather uptight, he has shown a true dedication to his village and students.
Also, although he tries to be very professional, he has displayed some perverted traits, as shown from how he reacts to Naruto's perverted tactics. He has been described by Naruto as a "closet-pervert". When perturbed, Ebisu pushes his sunglasses up his nose. Normally this is done with his middle finger, but in some scenes of the anime a different finger is used.

Tenten (テンテン, Tenten) is a kunoichi from Konohagakure. She's the female member of Team Guy, the teammate of Rock Lee and Neji Hyuga, and specializes in throwing weapons by summoning them from specially prepared scrolls. The change in her outfit from the manga to the anime was her shirt was blue not pink. The animators thought she should have "warmer" colors.

edit PersonalityLittle is known about Tenten's past or personality. She strongly believes that female ninja can be as strong as male ninja. Tenten's personal dream is to become as strong as Tsunade. She is the only weapon specialist of the Konoha ninja that was in the Chunin Exams, so its safe to assume her training with Might Guy mostly consisted of weaponry training. She can be quite fierce sometimes, especially with Lee, or in some instances, Naruto. She is strong and determined, but not above showing a softer side when it comes to her teammates. Tenten also has shown a strong distaste for weakness or being overly dependent for other people, and during a filler arc yells at Naruto for his compassion towards Ranmaru who had never learned to take care of himself. She holds great respect for her teammate Neji, since she always praises his skills, especially when Neji was fighting Naruto in the third round of Chunin Exam. She eventually recognized Naruto's skills and gave him her respect after he defeated Neji in the Chunin Exam Finals.

Tenten preparing to fight Temari.Tenten is pitted against Temari during the preliminaries of the Chunin Exams. Since their fight goes unseen in the manga, the anime adaptation explains the circumstances, Tenten began the match by throwing wave after wave of weapons at Temari, though Temari easily blew them away with her fan. As Tenten ran out of weapons, Temari used her fan to trap Tenten in a cyclone and propel her into the air. She finished off the match quickly, as the cyclone dispersed and Tenten fell to the ground, Temari made it a point to have Tenten land on her closed fan, knocking Tenten unconscious. Kankuro pointed out to Gaara, that Temari made it look easy and can put up a good show. Even after she was declared the winner of the match, she threw Tenten off of the fan in attempt to have her land on the many weapons on the ground. However, Rock Lee jumped in to save Tenten before she hit the ground. (It should be noted that the fight was entirely skipped in the manga, cutting from the start to the victory without showing what happened in between.) She later helps Neji train his Heavenly Spin before the finals, and admires the prowess he shows in his battle against Naruto. Tenten in Part II.Team Guy is sent to assist Team 7 in rescuing Gaara. Along the way, the group encounters Akatsuki member Kisame Hoshigaki. Tenten tries to attack Kisame with a spiked bomb, but he is able to avoid the explosion. Seeing that Neji, Lee and Tenten are in the way, Kisame quickly creates three water clones who captures the three team members in a water prison, leaving the original Kisame to fight Guy in peace. This does not go well for Tenten who is about to suffocate due to lack of oxygen in the small sphere of water. She was saved when Neji broke out of his own sphere and released Lee who took out the Kisame clone holding her captured.
After Kisame is defeated and Team Guy reaches the Akatsuki hideout, the team disperses to remove a number of seals in the surrounding area that are making entrance to the lair impossible. Although they succeed, they are each forced to fight exact copies of themselves, with the handicap of the them tiring out, while the clones seems to have infinite energy. However Lee realizes that while each clone is as strong as themselves when it was created, they have no emotions and hence no drive to surpass their current limits. Realizing this, they each pushed to surpass themselves and using a new stronger jutsu, each defeats their lookalike in time. After Gaara is rescued, Team Guy returns to Konoha with Team 7.
[edit] Three-Tails Arrival arcTenten next appears training with Lee on synchrozing their taijutsu attacks. She becomes tied up back to back with Lee. Unfortunately for her, Lee's usual over-enthusiastic nature gets the better of him, causing Lee to swing her around. Much to her joy, the training gets haulted suddenly as she is then ordered by Tsunade to act as further backup for Kakashi's team against the newly emerged Three-Tailed Beast. After arriving, she is placed under Kakashi's command as a primary defense against anyone interferring with the sealing of the Three-Tails.
When Guren's team finally appeared, Tenten used several bombs to blow away the enemies' smokescreen. After defeating the enemies, Tenten went with Lee to guard the sealing team. Despite their best efforts, they were then attacked by Guren who managed to stop the sealing process. After which, Tenten was given orders to watch over the recently retrieved Yukimaru while the rest of her team searched for Naruto.
After learning that Naruto was in the Three-Tail's belly, Tenten was assigned as a front defense from another attack by the enemy while the rest of the team dealt with the Three-Tails. To her surprise, Guren's men returned, ready to fight again. Unprepared for her opponent's enhanced might, Tenten and her team were defeated and barely survived. Tenten managed to summon a metal wall to protect herself and Lee.
[edit] Invasion of Pain arcTeam Guy was in a mission during the invasion, not knowing that their village was under attack. Weary from their mission, Tenten stops her team, saying that they should take a break. However, Guy states that birds were flying from Konoha as if to escape, and Neji says that he has a bad feeling and that they should head back right away, much to her annoyance and dismay. Later, as they head back for Konoha, they notice Gamabunta laying there. When Team Guy reached Konoha, she immediately checked Hinata's injuries and stated that they weren't fatal, but she needed direct medical attention.
edit AbilitiesTenten specializes in weapons, and as such has not been shown to use many Genjutsu or Ninjutsu. Tenten carries these weapons in a number of scrolls though in Part II, she instead carries a single large scroll and a lot of little scrolls, which demonstrates considerable strength as its sheer size doesn't appear to affect her mobility. Tenten primarily uses Projectile Weapons in battle. She has occasionally launched directly from her scrolls at a force as though they had been thrown in a manner similar to rhythmic gymnastics. In Part I, her arsenal is composed mostly of steel projectiles, though in Part II she is shown using a spiked bomb.
In the anime, Tenten has demonstrated capable taijutsu skill and also conjured close-combat weapons from her scrolls, such as a bo staff, tonfas and even a heavy flail, as well as displayed knowledge of exploding tags. Originally a Genin level ninja who graduated the academy a year before Naruto did, Tenten is a student of Might Guy together with Rock Lee and Neji Hyuga.
Her favored method of strength attack is to throw her scrolls in the air in such a way as to cause them to spin above her, then jump between them and toss a myriad of weapons at her opponent in rapid succession, otherwise known as Twin Rising Dragons. She also uses strings to control and guide the direction of her weapons. However, this technique is useless against opponents who use wind attacks, as seen in her short battle against Temari.
Later in Part II, Tenten carries around only one giant scroll on her back. Tenten uses a powered up version of the Twin Rising Dragons. This is later called Dragon Scattering Destruction. She uses her scroll to summon one large dragon into the air and fires projectile weapons at twice the speed of the Twin Rising Dragons technique.

She's the female member of Team Guy, the teammate of Rock Lee and Neji Hyuga, and specializes in throwing weapons by summoning them from specially prepared scrolls. The change in her outfit from the manga to the anime was her shirt was blue not pink. The animators thought she should have "warmer" colors.

edit PersonalityLittle is known about Tenten's past or personality. She strongly believes that female ninja can be as strong as male ninja. Tenten's personal dream is to become as strong as Tsunade. She is the only weapon specialist of the Konoha ninja that was in the Chunin Exams, so its safe to assume her training with Might Guy mostly consisted of weaponry training. She can be quite fierce sometimes, especially with Lee, or in some instances, Naruto. She is strong and determined, but not above showing a softer side when it comes to her teammates. Tenten also has shown a strong distaste for weakness or being overly dependent for other people, and during a filler arc yells at Naruto for his compassion towards Ranmaru who had never learned to take care of himself. She holds great respect for her teammate Neji, since she always praises his skills, especially when Neji was fighting Naruto in the third round of Chunin Exam. She eventually recognized Naruto's skills and gave him her respect after he defeated Neji in the Chunin Exam Finals.

Since their fight goes unseen in the manga, the anime adaptation explains the circumstances, Tenten began the match by throwing wave after wave of weapons at Temari, though Temari easily blew them away with her fan. As Tenten ran out of weapons, Temari used her fan to trap Tenten in a cyclone and propel her into the air. She finished off the match quickly, as the cyclone dispersed and Tenten fell to the ground, Temari made it a point to have Tenten land on her closed fan, knocking Tenten unconscious. Kankuro pointed out to Gaara, that Temari made it look easy and can put up a good show. Even after she was declared the winner of the match, she threw Tenten off of the fan in attempt to have her land on the many weapons on the ground. However, Rock Lee jumped in to save Tenten before she hit the ground. (It should be noted that the fight was entirely skipped in the manga, cutting from the start to the victory without showing what happened in between.) She later helps Neji train his Heavenly Spin before the finals, and admires the prowess he shows in his battle against Naruto. Neji's Curse Mark.When his cousin, Hinata, turned three years old, Neji was branded with the Hyuga Main Family's Juinjutsu by his uncle, Hiashi. When his father, Hizashi, showed anger over this and was punished for it, Neji began to see himself as a helpless "caged bird" forced to obey the main branch of the family. Around this time, his father had begun to see Neji's natural talent. After his father's sacrificed himself for the main family, Neji mistakenly believed that the main branch had forced him to do so, and the event became the primary basis of his grudge against the main branch.
A year before the start of the series, Neji graduated at the top of his class, and was placed in Team Guy with Might Guy as the Jonin leader, and Rock Lee and Tenten as his teammates. After officially being promoted to Genin, Neji declined to reveal his dream, and laughed at Rock Lee for claiming that he could become a great ninja with just taijutsu. During their first year in Team Guy, Lee challenged Neji many times, but always lost. Guy decided to have his team wait a year before taking the Chunin Exams in order to ensure that they were prepared. At some point before his first Chunin Exam, his animosity toward the main branch became apparent to Guy, who made him promise not to let the issue influence his feelings during the exam.
edit PersonalityOutside of his initial feelings towards his clan, Neji has shown to be extremely mature for his age and has great self-control. In battle, he is able to stay relatively calm in most situations and carefully look at the situation at hand. As stated by Tsunade, Neji has excellent instincts, both on the battlefield and as a leader. When forced to make difficult decisions on missions, he shows himself able to make a decision through keen observation and analysis.
While under the belief that his father died because he was a member of the branch house, Neji concludes that fate is something decided at birth and that no matter what one does, people cannot escape their destiny. Neji often applies this to people he views as weaker than he is, such as his cousin Hinata. During his match in the Chunin Exams, he tells Hinata that she is unfit to be a ninja due to being too kind and not confident enough. When she is eventually able to turn his philosophy against him, telling him that she believes that he is suffering from trying to become worthy of the main house despite his being born into the branch family, Neji becomes enraged and attempts to kill Hinata. He is stopped by multiple Jonin, but Hinata nevertheless is left in critical conditions from his earlier attacks. In this instance, Neji's only concern is that he could not complete his attack, and he accuses the Jonin of giving special treatment to the head family members. He disregards Hinata's personal growth in the match, concluding that because she was defeated, "a failure will always be a failure."
Neji displays similar efforts to condescend others during his match with Naruto Uzumaki who, despite being repeatedly struck down, continues to try and fight him. While Neji tries to show Naruto that fate cannot be fought and that someone who is weak will always remain weak, Naruto is unwilling to accept this mindset, arguing that Neji, for all his belief in fate, has not accepted his own destiny. Naruto goes on to defeat Neji, suggesting that if a "failure" like himself can change his destiny, a "genius" like Neji can, too.
With this example of overcoming "destiny" as well as finding out the truth about his father's death soon afterwards, Neji abandons the concept of inescapable fate. No longer bound by the idea that he is stuck at his current status, Neji resolves to become strong enough to never again lose a battle. To do so he begins putting more emphasis on working well with his team, and starts to value a mission's successful completion and his teammates' safety over his own betterment, even encouraging Rock Lee to continue pursuing his own dream. In addition, Neji begins trying to remedy the estranged relations between himself and the main house members, most particularly by being kinder to Hinata. His efforts seem to be effective, as he begins training with Hiashi and in Part II even starts to wear traditional Hyuga robes. He similarly has great confidence in Naruto's capacity to change others.
When Team Guy is first formed, Neji dismisses Lee's dream of becoming a great ninja despite his inability to mold chakra as hopeless, and suggests that Lee can never defeat him. After abandoning his fatalistic philosophy, he suggests that he would not have persevered in Lee's situation, and believes that if Lee works hard enough, he can surpass the gifted. They become good friends because of this, though Neji tends to spend most of his time with Tenten, as neither of them can compete with Lee or Guy's antics.

During the second phase, Team Guy splits up to find weak rival teams. Neji runs in to Team 10, but thinks them too weak to bother with. Neji then silently told his father that he wished to finally have control over his destiny and that he hoped to never lose again.

When during the course of the mission the team is captured by Kidomaru's webbing, Neji is able to free them and sends them after the remaining members of the Sound Four while he fights Kidomaru. Kidomaru was able to analyze Neji's defenses and find the blind spot in his Byakugan. Neji realized that Kidomaru was far more powerful than he was, but was determined never to give up, though, as he wanted to show those who considered him a genius that their faith in him was correct, and to prove that he no longer surrendered to fate. Neji was severely wounded when Kidomaru managed to fire an arrow through his chest. He was able to keep it from hitting his heart by moving at the last minute, and took advantage of the string attached to it that Kidomaru used to guide its trajectory. He channeled chakra through the web, severely injuring Kidomaru. He then caught and struck Kidomaru repeatedly with Gentle Fist, killing him. Neji was near death after the battle, but was saved with the help of Shizune and other medical ninja.
[edit] Pre-Shippūden filler arcsNeji was commonly the team leader for Team Guy when Guy was absent, and was more cautious and pragmatic than Naruto was. This was especially seen in the Hidden Star Village arc, in which Neji suggested that he and the others should concern themselves with finding the star, rather than with the potential dangers the star training has to the children. When the villagers confronted Akahoshi, Neji initially refuses to get involved, and when Naruto attacked Akahoshi after Akahoshi disabled Naruto's teammates with an attack, he told Naruto that he would deny knowing anything about what Naruto did, unwilling to betray the client and erode people's trust in Leaf ninja. Despite saying this, when Tsunade reprimanded the group for Naruto's destroying the star to defeat Akahoshi, Neji accepted responsibility as team leader, before Tsunade reveals that as Akahoshi was the client, no one will complain about their failing the mission.
In the Menma arc, he suspected that Menma is a Sound ninja, and while testing the theory, learned of Menma's incredible speed. His suspicions were confirmed in part when it is revealed that Menma is part of a bandit clan, but Menma remained on Naruto's side and sacrifices himself to save a town from bandits. In the Raiga arc, Neji had been shown in a more comical light; while he was unconscious, Tenten attempted to wake him up by feeding him the Curry of Life twice but, due to his low tolerance towards spicy food, he only freaked out after eating it and fell unconscious again.

Neji in Part II.[edit] Rescue Gaara arcNeji makes his debut with the rest of Team Guy when they are sent to provide back up for Team Kakashi. They are intercepted by Pakkun who redirected them to Team Kakashi's destination: an Akatsuki hideout. Along the way they were confronted by Kisame Hoshigaki, who quickly captured Neji, Tenten, and Lee. Neji was able to free them, allowing Guy to finish off Kisame. They discover that it was not the real Kisame, only a lookalike.
When they convene with Team Kakashi, Team Guy is tasked with bringing down a barrier blocking the entrance to the Akatsuki lair. Neji uses his Byakugan to find the seals keeping the barrier in place, but the team is ambushed by copies of themselves once the barrier is brought down. They defeat their clones, and meet up with Team Kakashi. Neji spots Deidara with his Byakugan and when Deidara prepares to explode himself he warns the rest to run away. Later, when Chiyo begins to use a strange technique, he mistook it as a medical ninjutsu, but later realized what it could do. Team Guy returns home when the mission is complete. On the way back, Guy resorted to carrying Kakashi to move faster. Lee, seeing this as a new way of training, requested Neji to go on his back, in which he replied, "Oh hell no!"
[edit] Invasion of Pain arcWhen Pain begins his attack on Konoha, Team Guy is away on a mission. During a pitstop on their return home they notice a number of birds apparently escaping from the village. They rush to the village, Neji using his Byakugan to see what he can find out before their actual arrival. With it he notices a defeated Gamabunta, who tells them of the village's destruction. Upon their return they find a badly injured Hinata, and they quickly get her medical attention. When they later learn that Naruto has defeated Pain, Neji insists on going to help him confront Nagato, saying that it was too reckless for Naruto to go alone when he was exhausted.

His father has even stated that his talent and potential surpasses all other members of their clan, while his uncle told his youngest daughter that no one else had thicker Hyuga blood than he did. While most of the former Konoha Genin become Chunin over the timeskip, Neji is the only one to become a Jonin.

Neji's Byakugan.As a member of the Hyuga clan, Neji possesses the Byakugan, which gives him an almost 360-degree field of vision, except for a small blindspot at the back of the neck. Neji is acutely aware of his blind spot and takes extra caution in keeping it away from opponents as well as paying close attention to it. While the Byakugan naturally has only a 50 meter field of vision, Neji is able to increase the range of its sight several times over by the start of Part II, to at least 800 meters. He is noted to have a particularly strong Byakugan in comparison to other members of the Hyuga clan.
[edit] Gentle FistNeji's Byakugan allows him to specialize in the Gentle Fist fighting style, which he has mastered to the point he can damage an opponent's Chakra Pathway System and inner organs directly with even a slight tap. Neji also uses this technique to attack his opponents heart directly and send them into cardiac arrest resulting in the death of the opponent with but a single strike. He can eject chakra from any chakra point in his body to either slow down objects or release himself from chakra based substances that will get him out of trapped situations. This also allows him to sense anything that enters his immediate area, which he can attack or defend against any threat with his extremely fast reflexes.

Neji using the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin.As a member of the Hyuga clan's branch house, Neji is forbidden to learn the clan's secret techniques, but has managed to deduce their workings simply through observation. He has learned many of these techniques, such as Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin. Since mastering these jutsu, Neji has begun to refine and strengthen them for more specialized needs. In Part II he learned the Eight Trigrams Empty Palm, a more focused version of the Heavenly Spin, with which he can expel chakra from his palm to attack opponents out of his physical reach. In the anime, he also learns to increase the number of strikes of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, by doubling it. He also uses a jutsu in the anime called Eight Trigrams Mountain Crusher.

He appears in Naruto Shippūden the Movie as the replacement of Kakashi Hatake. He leads a group composed of himself, Naruto, Lee, and Sakura, on a mission to protect Shion. During the mission Neji, with Lee's help, realizes that their opponents get their chakra from a certain source and defeats Kusuna to make the group helpless.
Neji also makes a short cameo appearance in Naruto Shippūden 2: Bonds. He is seen rescuing children as the sky-nin attack Konoha and explains how they use their chakra to fly. He is later seen after the attack talking to Shikamaru, and finally appears at the end wondering about the destruction Naruto had caused to the sky-nin's base.

Neji was ranked as the 8th most popular character in the sixth and most recent Naruto character popularity poll. He was 7th in the fifth poll and 6th in the fourth. 10th in the third poll and 13th in the second. He was 12th in the first poll. Ironically, while at first Neji was in between 10 and 19 in most of the character popularity polls and Lee was in the Top 10 Lee has gradually become less popular while Neji has become more popular, even though the two had equal exposure. However in an overall tally of all of their scores Lee and Neji made it to the Top 10.
"Neji" means "whirl" or "screw," which might be referring to his Heavenly Spin. His name is one of the few known Hyuga names that does not feature a sun- or light-based theme, or begins with an "H."
When Neji was first seen in the manga, his hair tie was higher, right below his head. However, after the second part of the Chunin Exams, it moves lower to the hair style he has now. In anime, he has the newer hair style nearly the whole time.
As member of the branch family of Hyuga clan, Neji uses title "Hinata-sama" (Mistress Hinata) when speaking to Hinata. Alike, Hinata uses title "Neji-niisan" ((Big) Brother Neji) when speaking to Neji. In the preliminary matches Chunin Exams, the latter one made Naruto and Sakura to think at first that Neji and Hinata are siblings, until Kakashi and Lee fixed the error.
Neji and Tenten have the same theme in the anime, but Tenten's has a slower beat, and Neji's is more upbeat.
In the manga, Neji's curse mark is a manji, instead of an x in the anime. It was edited as the manji looks similar to the symbol for the Nazi Party.

Neji's Curse Mark.When his cousin, Hinata, turned three years old, Neji was branded with the Hyuga Main Family's Juinjutsu by his uncle, Hiashi. When his father, Hizashi, showed anger over this and was punished for it, Neji began to see himself as a helpless "caged bird" forced to obey the main branch of the family. Around this time, his father had begun to see Neji's natural talent. After his father's sacrificed himself for the main family, Neji mistakenly believed that the main branch had forced him to do so, and the event became the primary basis of his grudge against the main branch.
A year before the start of the series, Neji graduated at the top of his class, and was placed in Team Guy with Might Guy as the Jonin leader, and Rock Lee and Tenten as his teammates. After officially being promoted to Genin, Neji declined to reveal his dream, and laughed at Rock Lee for claiming that he could become a great ninja with just taijutsu. During their first year in Team Guy, Lee challenged Neji many times, but always lost. Guy decided to have his team wait a year before taking the Chunin Exams in order to ensure that they were prepared. At some point before his first Chunin Exam, his animosity toward the main branch became apparent to Guy, who made him promise not to let the issue influence his feelings during the exam.
edit PersonalityOutside of his initial feelings towards his clan, Neji has shown to be extremely mature for his age and has great self-control. In battle, he is able to stay relatively calm in most situations and carefully look at the situation at hand. As stated by Tsunade, Neji has excellent instincts, both on the battlefield and as a leader. When forced to make difficult decisions on missions, he shows himself able to make a decision through keen observation and analysis.
While under the belief that his father died because he was a member of the branch house, Neji concludes that fate is something decided at birth and that no matter what one does, people cannot escape their destiny. Neji often applies this to people he views as weaker than he is, such as his cousin Hinata. During his match in the Chunin Exams, he tells Hinata that she is unfit to be a ninja due to being too kind and not confident enough. When she is eventually able to turn his philosophy against him, telling him that she believes that he is suffering from trying to become worthy of the main house despite his being born into the branch family, Neji becomes enraged and attempts to kill Hinata. He is stopped by multiple Jonin, but Hinata nevertheless is left in critical conditions from his earlier attacks. In this instance, Neji's only concern is that he could not complete his attack, and he accuses the Jonin of giving special treatment to the head family members. He disregards Hinata's personal growth in the match, concluding that because she was defeated, "a failure will always be a failure."
Neji displays similar efforts to condescend others during his match with Naruto Uzumaki who, despite being repeatedly struck down, continues to try and fight him. While Neji tries to show Naruto that fate cannot be fought and that someone who is weak will always remain weak, Naruto is unwilling to accept this mindset, arguing that Neji, for all his belief in fate, has not accepted his own destiny. Naruto goes on to defeat Neji, suggesting that if a "failure" like himself can change his destiny, a "genius" like Neji can, too.
With this example of overcoming "destiny" as well as finding out the truth about his father's death soon afterwards, Neji abandons the concept of inescapable fate. No longer bound by the idea that he is stuck at his current status, Neji resolves to become strong enough to never again lose a battle. To do so he begins putting more emphasis on working well with his team, and starts to value a mission's successful completion and his teammates' safety over his own betterment, even encouraging Rock Lee to continue pursuing his own dream. In addition, Neji begins trying to remedy the estranged relations between himself and the main house members, most particularly by being kinder to Hinata. His efforts seem to be effective, as he begins training with Hiashi and in Part II even starts to wear traditional Hyuga robes. He similarly has great confidence in Naruto's capacity to change others.
When Team Guy is first formed, Neji dismisses Lee's dream of becoming a great ninja despite his inability to mold chakra as hopeless, and suggests that Lee can never defeat him. After abandoning his fatalistic philosophy, he suggests that he would not have persevered in Lee's situation, and believes that if Lee works hard enough, he can surpass the gifted. He can eject chakra from any chakra point in his body to either slow down objects or release himself from chakra based substances that will get him out of trapped situations. This also allows him to sense anything that enters his immediate area, which he can attack or defend against any threat with his extremely fast reflexes.

Neji using the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin.As a member of the Hyuga clan's branch house, Neji is forbidden to learn the clan's secret techniques, but has managed to deduce their workings simply through observation. He has learned many of these techniques, such as Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin. Since mastering these jutsu, Neji has begun to refine and strengthen them for more specialized needs. In Part II he learned the Eight Trigrams Empty Palm, a more focused version of the Heavenly Spin, with which he can expel chakra from his palm to attack opponents out of his physical reach. In the anime, he also learns to increase the number of strikes of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, by doubling it. He also uses a jutsu in the anime called Eight Trigrams Mountain Crusher.

He appears in Naruto Shippūden the Movie as the replacement of Kakashi Hatake. He leads a group composed of himself, Naruto, Lee, and Sakura, on a mission to protect Shion. During the mission Neji, with Lee's help, realizes that their opponents get their chakra from a certain source and defeats Kusuna to make the group helpless.
Neji also makes a short cameo appearance in Naruto Shippūden 2: Bonds. He is seen rescuing children as the sky-nin attack Konoha and explains how they use their chakra to fly. He is later seen after the attack talking to Shikamaru, and finally appears at the end wondering about the destruction Naruto had caused to the sky-nin's base.

According to the latest Databook, Neji wishes to fight Naruto.
Neji is aware of Hinata's feelings for Naruto, and shortly before Naruto's departure at the end of Part I, suggests that she see him off. Whether or not he approves of these feelings is unknown.
Neji was ranked as the 8th most popular character in the sixth and most recent Naruto character popularity poll. He was 7th in the fifth poll and 6th in the fourth. 10th in the third poll and 13th in the second. He was 12th in the first poll. Ironically, while at first Neji was in between 10 and 19 in most of the character popularity polls and Lee was in the Top 10 Lee has gradually become less popular while Neji has become more popular, even though the two had equal exposure. However in an overall tally of all of their scores Lee and Neji made it to the Top 10.
"Neji" means "whirl" or "screw," which might be referring to his Heavenly Spin. His name is one of the few known Hyuga names that does not feature a sun- or light-based theme, or begins with an "H."
When Neji was first seen in the manga, his hair tie was higher, right below his head. However, after the second part of the Chunin Exams, it moves lower to the hair style he has now. In anime, he has the newer hair style nearly the whole time.
As member of the branch family of Hyuga clan, Neji uses title "Hinata-sama" (Mistress Hinata) when speaking to Hinata. Alike, Hinata uses title "Neji-niisan" ((Big) Brother Neji) when speaking to Neji. In the preliminary matches Chunin Exams, the latter one made Naruto and Sakura to think at first that Neji and Hinata are siblings, until Kakashi and Lee fixed the error.
Neji and Tenten have the same theme in the anime, but Tenten's has a slower beat, and Neji's is more upbeat.
In the manga, Neji's curse mark is a manji, instead of an x in the anime. It was edited as the manji looks similar to the symbol for the Nazi Party.
